Founded and grown by specialists, we’ve been leading the charge against insurance fraud and specialist investigations for over 35+ years.
We’ve evolved and shaped the industry we work in, earning our reputation as expert independent investigation specialists in the sector.

RGI is founded by Ray, a former police officer and his wife, Joyce. Having been injured and medically retired from police work, Ray founded the business with a vision to maintain his commitment to justice and protect people who are vulnerable to fraud or exploitation.
From modest roots as a family company operating out of the founder's home, RGI becomes registered as a limited company in its own right. We’re now able to grow and expand our influence and range of services.
We win our biggest project to date: a nationally recognised insurer. This progresses our mission to build long-standing, trusted relationships with major UK insurance providers and banks. It also marks the beginning of a 30+ year relationship with a charitable organisation supporting vulnerable and disabled customers.
Some key individuals join the team, reshaping our service and capabilities.
Anthony Byrne joins as Operations Manager, his operational experience leads to the company taking on a more processes driven approach.
Chris Moore joins as Fraud Manager. He’s instrumental in developing a more tailored fraud investigation service.
Jamie Lankey joins as Claims Investigation & Surveillance Manager, assisting with the wide ranging growth of our investigations department.
Our service capabilities continue to grow and grow. We start work with a major UK bank offering income protection services. We also introduce our intelligence and surveillance services to the market.
We invest in an intelligent claims database, giving us advanced capability to review and detect links between claims. Our new online client portal – Fileview – enables clients real-time case updates at the touch of a button.
RGI partners with the UK’s largest motor trade insurer, expanding our niche service
offering in this sector and strengthening our ability to validate claims, including those for road traffic accidents and thefts.
We launch our Conversation Management department. It enables our investigators to get better results in protecting clients against smaller fraudulent claims, such as in gadget or bicycle insurance.
As fraudsters get more advanced, so do we. We introduce AI software via Lynx document validation to detect fraud with amazing accuracy.
Anthony Byrne becomes our Operations Director, setting high commercial standards and developing our operations.
Chris Moore becomes our Counter-Fraud Director. He’s instrumental in developing a more tailored fraud investigation service.
Jamie Lankey becomes our Technical Services Director, focusing on agent quality, recruitment and training.
After realigning on who we are and why we do it earlier in the year, we win the Customer Care award at the Claims & Fraud award in October.
A recognition of what matters most to us – the people we meet through our work.

We’re one of the few truly independent investigation specialists in the sector, with a 200-strong field force made up of former law enforcement, military, insurance and legal professionals. There’s no part of an investigation our people can’t help you with.
